BEREAVEMENT GROUP

The Bereavement Committee is an organization formed at SEAS to fulfill Christ's admonition, "To comfort the sorrowful." We send cards to those who have just lost a loved one. Later we call and provide pamphlets which are meant to assist in the grieving process. Some people desire a visit just to talk; others with an adequate support group do not need a visit. We also have a list of Grief Support Groups in the area for those who have special need for professionals to help them through this difficult time. In November, the month of the Holy Souls, we have a Mass of Remembrance. During this Mass those who have lost a loved one this year are given a rose to place on the altar at a special time during the liturgy. Make sure you register the name of your loved one at our table during the Ministry Fair and your telephone number so that we may contact you for the Mass of Remembrance. All of us have lost a loved one at one time or another, and so the entire parish is encouraged to come. We also work with Hospice and arrange a Workshop to help those grieving get through the holidays. There are many details to care for to make this all happen. We are looking for people to take care of just one small detail. If you are looking for a small commitment, find the Bereavement table at the Ministry Fair to discuss this ministry and sign up. If you don't get to the Fair, call me.
